Last week I saw MT Masking Tape calling for washi tape crafts submission on their Facebook page. Being such a washi tape fanatic, I decided to try my luck.
The criteria for the submission is that you must use MT washi tape and the craft must be done with your child. So I looked around the house and found these materials.
Materials needed
- Washi tape
- Ice cream sticks (I only had coloured ones. But the regular ones work better)
- A pair of scissors
- Marker with a thin tip
Ready to start?
First, draw a hair do and face on the top of an ice cream stick.
Next, dress her up by wrapping the area under her head. Using another coloured washi tape, wrap around the middle portion of the ice cream stick. Add details like button, collars and pockets on your puppets dress and bottom.
And don’t forget to give your character legs and shoes too!
Sophie and her character, Fifi!
Ta dah your very own washi craft bookmark!
It was quite fun and I made one for myself too!
So how do you like my washi tape craft idea for kids? These are great for doubling up as puppets too!
My inspiration was from this blog!
Here are some of my other creations made with washi tape too.
Do share if you’ve got other washi tape craft ideas.
PS: The most ironic thing was that I forgot to check the submission deadline and totally missed it. Haha, Istill had fun making these nevertheless 🙂

I love this! I’m so tempted to go and buy washi tape now…
Have I converted you already Adeline? There’s so much you can make with them and the sight of them makes me happy already. Haha.
