Paris is always a good idea

They say that Paris is always a good idea. And how can I disagree when I managed to squeezed it into my 8 days London itinerary. So to Paris we are going this December 🙂

Initially hubby and I only planned to take a cruise for our first family holiday after one and a half year hiatus.  As I’ve mentioned in my previous post,  we found it really troublesome to bring Sophie along for holidays as we’re always worried that she’ll not survive her mom’s travel nazi ways. Think full-acked itineraries with no time to rest for the weary. But after a few holidays on our own, we really hated to disappoint her, so we decided to test waters with a cruise and we’ll be sailing off tomorrow!!!

Anyway, this upcoming London trip  came out of the blue as Alexis’s company dropped the bomb on him that they were sending him for training just a month ago. He naturally wanted me to go with him since it’s not everyday that you get sent half way round the globe for training. After much hesitation, I decided to say, “Yes!”

This is going to be our first holiday to London and Paris and we’re really looking forward to it. So now, the questions begs, what are the must go to places in London and Paris. Drop me a comment and I’ll remember to get a souvenir for you 🙂

Stayed tuned for lots of travel related posts this November. I’ve got traveling tips plus review of a nearby island getaway coming up soon. Sounds exciting? You bet!

I have so many friends heading there this year! We were there last year for our anniversary trip. It is a lovely time to visit London and Paris.

My favourite thing in London is the ice skating rink at Somerset House. Drink mulled wine and skate alongside the tiffany christmas tree. It is really romantic!

Oh and we stumbled upon a great sports shop in Paris called Decathlon which has really good quality sports items at reasonable prices.

Jasmine, I’m going to check out the ice skating rink you mention. Am sure it beats the one at J Cube hands down anytime 🙂

I’ll also be going to Hyde Park as they’re now having a Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park! Looks like so much fun. http://www.hydeparkwinterwonderland.com/attractions

Sounds fabulous, this trip to London! I suppose you will be hanging out mostly on your own during the day while he is at work? Hit the art galleries, museums, cafes, markets and vintage shops! Go for long walks – I find London very walkable 🙂 If this is the first trip there for the both of you, save the must-see tourist sites for weekends where you can visit together!

I have not dined at The Fat Duck but would love to do so if I could. See if you can make a reservation! http://www.thefatduck.co.uk/

Corsage, I’ve heard about the fatduck and also how they charge almost 200 pounds for their food. *Gulp*

Actually, I’m only joining hubby for the 2nd leg of his training, so I’ll only be on my own for 1 day. So I’ll be hitting the museums and art galleries and some shopping area. I only hope it doesn’t rain so heavily, though the early sun set is to be expected at this time of the year.

LV boutique has many Asians inside. Go grab something! Great shopping place!

Don’t think I’ll have much time to shop in Paris… I suspect could be why hubby booked the earlier train. Haha.

If you’re keen to do the Eiffel Tower and want to try some Michelin restaurants, check out Les Jules Verne – they have a reasonable degustation lunch and you’ll have a private lift up to dine at the middle section of the Eiffel Tower (you can make reservations online). Otherwise the queues can be pretty long. Enjoy! 🙂

Hi Susan, when are you going and where will you be staying? Winter Wonderland is a must do. I would also suggest visiting santa’s grotto in harrods, but you will need to pre-book. Its nice to see all the lights in London.
My favourite store on Oxfrod Street is Selfridges, but better to go to Westfield Stratford (biggest in Europe) for shopping. Try the natural history museum and most importantly, catch a show, much cheaper than in Singapore. Enjoy my hometown, but wrap up warm and layering is the key!

I’ve been told that I MUST go to Primark to shop. Shopping in Oxford is a must as well 🙂 Yes I can’t wait and am so looking forward to it.

    Hi Susan…

Go for the kiosk under Eiffel Tower for its’ hotdog bun and fries.. You will never regret it… Though simple, it is really unforgettable…

    Enjoy…
