We got up bright and early on a Sunday morning and headed to the Siloso Beach for the official launch of Disney Junior on Starhub. Sophie has been looking forward to meeting her favorite Mickey and Minnie Mouse ever since she saw the invite I received from the lovely folks from Disney.
We were introduced to the latest character, Jake and the Never Land pirates which preschoolers can look forward to along with the other characters like Handy Manny, Agent Oso and of course the well-loved Mickey Mouse clubhouse gang.
The party was buzzing with activities as we set off to complete our Pirate Quest. There were station games that we had complete so that Sophie can pick up the skills to join Jake on his pirate crew.
Initially, Sophie was hesitant about the challenges, which in her context was the heat and the sand, but eventually she completed her tasks and earned herself a honourary pirate certificate! But mummy thinks that she has no pirate ambitions at all and would much rather settle for being a princess.
When it was finally time to meet Mickey and Minnie on stage, she turned into a bundle of nerves and clung onto me for her dear life. When they inched nearer, she dug her fingers into me. So much for her enthusiasm…
Of course we had to leave our mark before we end our morning of pirate adventures. Sophie was excited to dip her hands into the red paint and we made history for witnessing the best thing that will hit the screens on Starhub Channel 311 from 11 July 2011!
Goodies from our pirate’s loot bag. Disney sure knows how to throw a great party!
