Celebrating National Day

It’s August and naturally the theme for the month in Sophie’s child care is on celebrating National Day. When I asked what she’s learnt in school last week, she replied “Draw Singapore flag” with pride.

She can also tell me that there is red and white color in the flag. And according to her teacher, she could identity the stars and crescent moon in the flag as well. But she really wowed me when she added that she learnt the pledge in school and could show me where to place her hand when saying the pledge. I expect no less from her after all she was born on National Day, 9 August 2009.

So to get us all in the spirit of National Day, I did some craft work with her over the weekends and we created our very own National Day bunting.

See how careful she is, trying to avoid dirtying her fingers with the paint

Asked for a pose and this is what I got 😛

We’ll be off to catch the fireworks this evening. It’s not everyday that one gets to have fireworks in the sky on your birthday. Sophie’s one lucky girl!

Coloring is one of Sophie’s favorite activity so she can hold her color pencil quite well. Her coloring used to be one big mass. Now it’s more focused around the area she wants to color.

I’ll give credit to the school for those coloring skills of hers 🙂

Sophie from time to time also gets her colors wrong but I suspects she does it cheekily.

I’m sure Denson will learn it in time to come. I’m not surprised that he may already know how to do it, but just wants his way at home.

Sophie also tends to be more compliant in school. But at home, she wants to be the boss!

Wow, such a careful painter! 🙂 Loved the bunting you did together, and she sure is lucky to have a whole country celebrating with her on her birthday! 😉

She doesn’t like to get her hands dirtied that’s why. Yeah she gets to have fireworks on her birthday. How cool is that!

Yes she had three birthday cakes just to celebrate her 2nd birthday. And to top it off, fireworks too!

Not sure about a great artist. But surely a budding artist 🙂
