Just last week, we started with the potty training by introducing to Sophie books on going to the potty. Mummy also did some ground work and did her fair share of reading too.
Each time Sophie sat on the potty, she has stamps on her hands as a reward and motivation to keep trying.
Yesterday my mom caught her being awfully still while playing and brought her to the potty where she peed in it for the first time. I showered her with extravagant praises and a sticker for her effort.
Today I made her sat on the potty 20 mins after she had soup but it yielded no results. Decided to let her try wearing briefs without diapers and gave her instructions that she must tell me if she needed to pee or poo.
10 mins later she shouted “poo poo” and ran to the toilet. I thought it could be a false alarm but when I pulled down her briefs, she pooed on the floor with a bit of whining. I suppose she’s still not used to the feeling of pooing without her diapers. Although it was too late, I used the opportunity to tell her that the next time she has to sit on the potty to poo. For that, She received cheers from mummy too.
Oh and I got to add that being the clean freak that she is, she got SO turned off by the sight of her poo on the floor that she gave a look of disgust and ran away. Hilarious.
In addition, I’ve also asked her teacher to help reinforce the potty training by bringing her to the potty whenever it’s time for a diaper change.
I have realistic expectations that this may take a while since it could be a different story when she’s in school. But meanwhile a post to celebrate a little success so far in her potty journey!

Congrats on this initial success! How old is Sophie? She looks about the same age as Bubbles 🙂 We haven’t really started potty training proper yet. I am so not looking forward to it =P
Hi Corsage,
Sophie is 20 months now, a month older than Bubbles if I’m not wrong.
Haha we had a couple of bad days too. But gotta keep reminding myself that she’ll soon learn, soon, soon enough 🙂
