Pink Ribbon Walk 2013

Think Pink Ribbon and many will immediately associate it with Breast Cancer Awareness Day.

This year, the Breast Cancer Foundation in Singapore is organising the Pink Ribbon Walk to rally support for those fighting against breast cancer. The walk also aims to raise breast cancer awareness and raise funds to further enhance Breast Cancer Foundation’s support group programmes and awareness outreach.

Do you know that out of 100 Singaporean women, 6 will develop breast cancer in their lifetime?                                                                            Source: Singapore Cancer Registry

For me, the threat of breast cancer is very real as two of my aunties had breast cancer some 10 years ago. But thankfully, they are cleared now and am living a full life thanks to the support of family and friends who have stood by the side to help them overcome this challenging period in the life.

The 2013 Pink Ribbon Walk is scheduled for Saturday, September 28 from 5pm commencing at Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade and covering 4.1km. The event seeks to drive home the importance of a healthy lifestyle, showing solidarity with breast cancer survivors and helping to raise awareness for BCF’s mission to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease.

This year, I wanna make a difference and lend my support and ask that you also join me by taking part in the Pink Ribbon Walk that goes entirely for charity to build awareness of breast cancer and support of breast cancer survivors and patients. Husbands, Fathers and Sons are more than welcome to participate in this walk to extend your love and support to your female family members too!

The early bird discount (S$32 instead of S$38) has also been extended, so don’t wait and register by 15 August 2013.

If you are keen to support this cause, do drop me a note 🙂

About Breast Cancer Foundation

Breast Cancer Foundation is a non-profit organisation set up in 1997 with the mission of eradicating breast cancer as a life-threatening disease. To achieve this, it propagates awareness and education through talks, seminars, exhibitions and publications, and advocates early detection through regular screening. Support and volunteer programmes are organised for survivors and their families through counselling and healing through art activities – all with the aim of helping survivors regain their active life after breast cancer. Breast Cancer Foundation is one of the few breast cancer advocacy groups in the world with a Men’s Support League to emphasise men’s roles in society’s fight against this affliction.
