Spills, splatters, stains, are what mums have to deal with very often when they have kids at home. Of course, that’s not to say that we adults don’t have our fair share of accidents. In fact, I had a major boo boo when I spilled coffee all over my top and this happened just after I reminded my daughter to hold her milk bottle carefully in case she spills her milk. Talk about pot calling the kettle black.
After that incident, I went around asking for advice on what most people used to remove stains from their clothing and got advice to use vinegar, baking soda and rubbing alcohol. Apart from these, one brand that kept coming up was Vanish. This was a brand that my mum introduced me too and you know it must be effective when it’s endorsed by your mum.
Just over the weekends, I had to deal with another stain. This time round, the culprit was my dearest husband when he scored 0 vs 1 to a black pepper crab claw which he was trying to crack and the fella flew right out of his fingers and went splat on the ground.
Immediately, I scanned his shirt and saw that the black pepper sauce had already left splotches of stains. As this shirt was one of Alexis’s top, I immediately put it to wash once we got home.
Here’s a Juggling Mom stain removal tip: Once your clothing has been stained, don’t allow the stain to dry as it can become harder to remove later. Take a wet wipe or wet a paper towel of cloth and dab on the stain to try to remove as much stain as possible.
Once we got home, I used a scoop of Vanish Power O2 Powder, added water to it and allowed the solution to soak in. After 5 minutes, I washed the shirt together with my other laundry in the washing machine with another capful of washing detergent.
So was my husband’s shirt salvaged?
Indeed I was not disappointed with the results as I couldn’t find any signs of the stain. No wonder my mum swears by it!
