Mother’s Day holds a very special place in my heart. .
Not just because of the handmade Mother’s Day card or gifts that I receive from my little one. Or even the extra hugs and kisses that I get showered with. Or the exceptional well behaviour that someone promised me just because it was Mother’s Day.
Rather it’s a reminder that I’ve been gifted with such an incredible responsibility of raising a child, the next generation. And it’s a privilege that I don’t take for granted because I have been blessed many times over as a mum.
I have to admit that it makes me all warm and fuzzy to receive these gifts that are made from your little hands. But it’s what you have deposited in my heart that makes it even more meaningful.
To my little girl, thank you for loving me and calling me mummy. I may not be the best mum in the world, but just like how mummy always tell you to try your best at everything you do, I’m also trying my best to be a better mum just for you.
I love how you share everything that happens at your childcare and how you turn to me for advice on how to deal with friends who don’t friend you or do unkind things like cutting up your eraser. I like the secret handshakes and code names that we come up with just for laughs. And even though I lament that you’re still sleeping with us, I really do like cuddling with you on weekends and waking up to a smiley face who’s all ready to take on the weekends.
Some days, I wonder if I know what I’m doing as a mum and if my choices have been the best for you, for us. But that’s how it is in life isn’t it when you just do your best and then hope for the best too. Many a times, I wished I could be around for you more, be more patient and not lose my cool, be a better cook, be more this, more that.. But guess what, you’re not really complaining and that gives me comfort that maybe, just maybe, I’m not doing too shabby a job as a mum.
Love mum.
PS: I’ll still be a better mum for you 🙂

Sometimes I wonder if I’m actually a good enough mum too.. but when I see how joyful she is, how loving she is, how much smiles she brings to others I think, hey I must be doing something right.
You’re doing all right too, Susan. Let’s all learn to be better mums together, but never forget that we are already good enough (if that makes any sense :P)
Ai @ Sakura Haruka
Thanks Ai. I know what you mean. Guess the word is finding contentment while still trying our best to be better mums for our little girls 🙂 Let’s jia you together.
