Motivational Mondays – 2013 in Reiew

We’re just two days away from 2013. It’s a time when I take a back seat to unwind for the year and do some personal reflection on how I’ve been tremendously blessed by the goodness of God this year.

A big thank you for all who have read and participated in my Motivational Mondays link party this year. Personally, it hasn’t been easy to dig deep every week to open up my heart and talk about some of the topics, especially those on my failings as a mum or wife. But I’m glad I preserved on week after week to remind myself that I’m a work in progress who’s where I am because of grace not perfection.

As I look back and read each and every one of my Motivational Mondays posts as well as posts that you’ve linked to, I am so moved by everyone’s stories. Thanks for being an inspiration to me as you leave me notes of encouragements as well. Motivational Mondays will be here to stay for 2014 and may it be a source of encouragement to you to be motivated to be the best you that you can be. And on that note, I’m reminded to count my blessings and be grateful for the many beautiful moments in 2013.

2013 in Review

  • Sophie turned four! We’re so thankful that she’s been such a joy in our lives and is in the pink of health.
  • We finally braced ourselves for a family holiday and took off for 2 holidays to Taiwan  and Hong Kong with Sophie. And the verdict – we had so much more fun as a family. More family holidays to come.
  •  We brought Sophie for her first movie, Turbo and she loves the movies ever since. Her favourite movie to date is Frozen and she’s quite the karaoke queen belting out songs from the sound track.
  • We also took Sophie to the theatre too and exposed her to the performing arts and hope it expands her imagination!
  •  We had a challenging time when Alexis battled with a bad back and news that we may have to go for fertility assistance. Good news is Alexis is much better and we hope to hear good news for an extended family soon.
  • We had our first professional photography session with Natsuki and loved how they turned out!
  • Alexis was promoted at work!
  • Alexis was also crazy in love with me to queue for the much coveted Hello Kitty dolls which made headline news this year.
  • We trained hard and finally completed our first vertical marathon and clocked 22:27 minutes!
  • Me and a few friends got together to design handmade cards to raise funds for MINDS and with the support of friends and relatives, I’ve raised S$97. Thanks for all your support and generosity.
  • Alexis bought Sophie her first pair of roller blades and we fulfilled her Christmas wish by taking her for her first roller blading class yesterday.
  • Blogging opened up many opportunities for me this year and I’m so grateful to do what I enjoy and got to know many friends in the process.
  • In addition, I also joined World Mom Bloggers and am a Voice for the Family by Focus on the Family to lend my voice and share my experiences as a mum.
  • I got back to scrapbooking and realised how much I missed it. I even did a December Daily mini album to record the day leading to  Christmas.
  • For 2014, I’ll also be starting on Project Life as another medium to record this beautiful life of ours.

But regardless of what lives we lead, to have a beautiful life, one needs to look for the beauty in everything. And for that, I’m thankful each day for what I have in my life. I’m truly blessed indeed. Wishing you a beautiful life and days ahead in 2014!

How has your year been? If you haven’t had the time to do some reflection, why not do it before the year end. You may just find that like me, you have so much to be thankful for too 🙂

Yes, glad to know you better this year too. Let’s have a catch up for lunch soon 🙂 May 2014 be an extra special one for the family with the arrival of baby. And don’t worry about the terrible twos, she’ll soon ease out of them. Hang on in there.

Reading your year in review especially your conquering of the marathon and your fundraising effort for MINDS have been really inspirational. I hope with time I will be better able to prioritise my resources so that they can be channeled to worthy causes (like “loving others as ourselves” and taking care of ourselves.)

Joining your linky party with one of my first posts in 2014. God bless!
