We had our first Meet the Teacher’s session with Sophie’s teachers today.
Sophie’s been attending Sunflower Kiddy House since she turned 18 months and just in this mere 4 months we’ve witnessed a lot of developments in her, from her physical, cognitive, emotional and social. No doubt she’s going through the natural progression from a little babe to a little independent toddler, it’s also evident that the school has played a part in shaping her.

We were very hearten to know that Sophie is more attentive in class now as her teacher used to tell me that she’ll walk around during the class when she first joined. In her teacher’s words, Sophie was curious and no doubt she was and still is. But she’s learnt that there is a time for exploring and a time for learning.
Sophie might have gotten some creative genes from mummy as she enjoys her art and craft lessons very much. And to our surprise this little clean freak is no longer particular about having paint or glue on her hands and would even gamely smear her hands over the glue just for the fun of it.
But there’s one thing that’s undeniable is that this little girl of mine loves her physical activity time. She’s happiest when she gets to run, jump, hop, roll and guess what she can even jump and balance on the trampoline!
At the end of the session, it was great to know that Sophie is adapting well to school and is enjoying her lessons. The teachers even revealed that she’s got a little fan base in school and has become somewhat of a popular personality because of her friendly and bubbly disposition. We hope she always stays this way, warming the hearts of those she interacts with.
We came for the Meet the Teacher’s session without any expectations that she must ace at counting from 1-10, or knowing all her 26 letters of the alphabets or even all the colors of the rainbow. In fact, as parents we try to remind ourselves that a child’s worth is never measured by his or her academic ability because they may have other interests and passion. But more importantly, no matter what the teachers can impart to the child, they can never replace the role a parents as the child’s best teacher.
