Sometimes I need to take a leaf from my daughter who is not afraid to go against the flow. And in this case quite literally as she climbs up a two storey wave slide at Kids Amaze, the indoor playground in SAFRA Toa Payoh last week, which by the way is one of the indoor playground that gets my stamp of approval.
Her fearless personality is frankly what I admire in her. And as a child, there’s perhaps less to lose except maybe your mum’s cool when she sees you risking your safety for adventure.
But what Sophie has taught me is that sometimes you just gotta follow your heart and dare to go against the flow. Never mind what people say because they don’t know the rush of adrenaline it brings to be able to march to the beat of your own drum.
I just hope I’ll remember this when she’s older and has her own ideas on what she wants to pursue in life.
What have you learnt from your child lately?

Such an inspiring lesson you picked up from Sophie! Yes may no obstacle, big or small, ever hinder her from going for her dreams and goals. 🙂
It’s always not easy to dare to stand out and be different for what you love. In that, I hope to never discourage her in this area.
Well said, Susan! I love how fearless children are, and also how accepting they are. Every kid in their class is their friend but this only happens up to a certain age. I wonder when we all start losing those amazing childlike qualities. Is it parents and adults who actually help them lose those qualities because we don’t display them anymore? Let us know be kids again that respect.
Yes, that’s so true. But I remember when I was growing up, I was always told to take the conventional path so I gave up some things which I was passionate about. Hope I can always encourage Sophie to pursue what she loves.
