Hot dog please

I never had much complaints about Sophie’s diet as she pretty much eats most of the food that given to her… with the exception of eggs. You name it, she hates it, fried eggs, hard boiled eggs, soft boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, which I still cant figure why.

She loves her greens though from brocolli, carrots (one of her all time favorite till today), spinach and oh yes how can I forget about the corn!

She also enjoys eating fruits, which is every mummy’s dream and has the same repulsion for durians like her parents, no doubt our very own offspring πŸ™‚

But when she hit 21 months, she started becoming selective in what she eats. And because she’s become quite apt at feeding herself, she has the ability to drop the food which she doesn’t want from her spoon and scoop only what she wants. So while we attempt to hide bits of veg, meat in her spoon when she’s not noticing, this little food connoisseur will just dump the food back into the bowl and pick out what she wants to eat. We’re lucky that she hasnt reach the stage where she’ll catapult her food into our faces.

We’ve tried to keep a relaxed attitude to food, so I’m not proud to say that we’ve introduced her to the world of fries and hotdogs. I know there is almost no nutritional value in these food. But when you have a hungry greedy tot eyeing your freshly fried fries, you just want to share everything you have.

But imagine my surprise when Sophie mistook pig stomach for hot dog and insisted on having some. I must say that she has more adventurous taste buds than Daddy.

Lol. I’m experiencing the same thing now. H is also starting to choose her food. Except those she doesn’t like lands on the floor, tabletop or she feeds it to us. Definitely doesn’t go back to her plate.

Ooh what brave tastebuds your daughter has! :> My toddler is still very picky. He has good days though when he’ll eat anything in front of him. Those days I cherish very much!

      Toni,
I’d love to have some of those days too. But on a more serious note, her diet is giving her poo poo problems. So I’m giving her fruits while she still likes them and hopes her appetite gets better soon.

I do hope this is just a phase that will pass. I suspect that her selective diet is what’s causing her constipation.

Give her some prune juice – I buy the Del Monte brand. It really helped my boy during the time he had very bad constipation. And ‘oily’ fruits like avocado helps too. My boy also doesn’t like egg, except when it’s fried or when I mix it into his porridge, and he loves corn too πŸ™‚

Guess it’s normal? She started knowing her own preference better, which is good I guess.

i just gave yahn mc-nuggets today and it’s the first meal she fed herself TOTALLY! i just had to cut them up and put them on the table and she stuffed all of them into her mouth! likewise for fries… think on days when i’m in no mood to battle with my fussy one, i’ll just let her have junk fast food.

FB: I try not to be too worried and hope it’s a phase for her. But I’m more concerned that she doesn’t get enough fiber for her to poo

Try prune juice, I buy the Del Monte brand and it really worked for my boy when he had a bad bout of constipation when he was a few months old. Eating ‘oily’ fruits like avocado also helps πŸ™‚

Oh she drinks that regularly but we now suspect she’s afraid of pooing rather than constipation. Have been giving her more fruits so hopefully that helps.
