Having a blast turning 32!

For most ladies, we all dread turning a year older. As if we don’t have to contend against nature’s way of reminding us that time is not our side, with the appearance of fine lines, sagging skin, and a waistline that refuses to budge, we are constantly reminded by advertisers that we have to “reverse the signs of aging”.

I turned 32 yesterday and do I desire to go back in time? I would say, I’m giving it a pass.

For those who know me, I never had a very high-esteem of myself. In my teens, I was constantly fighting with identity issues. Despite coming from a happy family, I still went through a lot of issues, like insecurities, acceptance and lacked confidence in myself. There was a brief period in my life during my poly days when I partied and had so many whys about my existence and back slided as a Christian.

Now that I’m 32, I have no desire to go back in time. Through the years, I have learnt a lot about who I am and to know better than to live my life by what other people think about me. And as for aging, it going to happen to all of us, soon or later, and frankly unless you have found the fountain of youth, nothing is going to stop the aging process. So why fight it when you are better off accepting it and enjoying the days ahead to the fullest?

I’m so thankful to be able to spend my birthday with people that I love and love me in return. And did I mentioned that I threw myself a birthday party this year?

It’s been a long time since I met some of my old friends from my previous church and I wanted Alexis to plan a get together. But he flatly refused, so this birthday girl had to roll up her sleeves and do it herself. That’s what being older makes you – more confident to even plan your own birthday party 🙂

With the cell group who surprised me with Hello Kitty Balloons 🙂 *LIKE*

With the family who’s ever supportive and love me unconditionally

To all my friends who took time to attend my birthday, thank you for journeying with me all these years. For your love and support, for your friendships and prayers, for believing in me and walking with me.

So what does turning 32 mean to me? It’s having a new confidence in myself. But and not just in myself but a confidence that God is doing something new in me to bring out the best in me and knowing that my best days are ahead of me and not behind me!

So if you’ve not turned 30 and are dreading it, I hope you’ll embrace it with open arms and love yourself exactly where you may be in life.

And when we approach 40, we will be telling ourselves that 40s are the new 30s.

Hello. 40s are the new 20s for heavens sakes….young, nubile and full of exhilarating drive bordering on risk-taking bravado. Below that age, you’re still a baby…with less wrinkles. Haha.

Happy 32nd! I don’t look forward to my birthday… but I don’t dread it either. The only thing that keeps me a little more interested is to see what my husband would get for me. 😛 Not asking for much since the most memorable surprise was just a dabao of my favourite ramen. 😛

Totally agree with you on liking being older because I’m much more confident and definitely more “me”! Only thing about getting older is when you get preggers for the third time, your body will remind you of your true age, lol!

I love your little girl’s expression in the last photo! She’s wishing hard :D. Happy 32! I’ll be 32 this year too and like you, wouldn’t trade it for any other age! LOL on planning the party yourself. See it this way, you get everything you want 😀
