I’m a huge sucker for colors and all things pretty. And to have this combination in a dessert, only one word to describe it – AWESOME!
Want to know where you can lay your hands on this piece of awesomeness?
I chanced upon the Le Chocolat Café at Ann Siang Hill after Alexis and I had our massage at Qi Mantra over at Club Street. The massage was part of our 6th wedding anniversary and some alone couple time was much needed. Le Chocolat Café is situated on the ground floor of Club Hotel, a 2-storey boutique hotel that has preserved it’s exterior heritage design very well.
We stepped into the cafe and my eyes caught sight of the rainbow cake that was on display. I’ve heard so much fuss about rainbow cakes but never tried it before. Seeing how pretty it looked, I placed an order for that along with a pot of tea and another slice of chocolate cake.
When the cake arrived, I swore there was an audible gasp and a wide grin on my face that went from ear to ear.
Just the sight of the vibrant colors in the cake scored a perfect 10.
While I must admit that the rainbow cake was a little too sweet with the layers of icing in between , I still enjoyed every single bite and wished that I had the talent to bake such a lovely cake.
As it was our wedding anniversary, I can’t help but thank God at how Alexis has brought more color into my life. Oh wait, I think it should be the other way around 🙂
Besides desserts, Le Chocolat Cafe also serves coffee, sandwiches, salads and pastries. It’s a really nice place to retreat away from weekend hustle and bustle in town. So if you’re looking for a nice quiet cafe to spend the weekend afternoon over coffee ad cakes, you’ll be spoilt for choice here.

Curious, does each layer has different flavour or they taste the same?
I agree, its a happy cake with such vibrant colors.
Each layer taste exactly the same. Probably just taste of food coloring :p Date you there to try it yourself 🙂
Totally agree! this is awesome! and happiness too!
But, don’t know why, I am just always too far from good food:(!
Travel for food! I do that sometimes when I have cravings for a particular food.
always fancied a rainbow cake and it’s been on my to-do baking list for ages!! that one sure looks yum!
You’re attempting to make it? Heard that it takes quite a bit of time to put them together.
My friend just baked one for her son’s birthday! so awesome huh.
Wow that’s one lucky son! I wished I could bake this.
This place is just down the road from my place but I’ve never seen the rainbow cake! Pity its very sweet, I probably won’t like the taste then. Looks really pretty though!
Thanks Susan for the recommendation. I might treat myself on my birthday:)

I’m not sure if it’s available everyday. But it is one of their signature cakes. If you’re going down just for it, then it’s a good idea to call beforehand.
