As a mum, I’m sure you’ve had one of those moments when you kids say the most embarrassing things that you wished the ground will open up and swallow you there and then. I had one of those moments today on the way to work this morning.
We were on board a crowded train and a passenger very graciously and offered Sophie a seat.
She was in a jolly good mood and belting out her favourite Frozen song, Let it Go. Then she suddenly turned to me and asked.
Sophie: Mummy, do you smell someone farted?
Me: Erm, no… I don’t smell anything.
At this point, the thought that raced through my mind was, please don’t let it be anyone or the lady sitting beside Sophie, otherwise imagine their embarrassment…
The she smiled and confessed.
Sophie: It’s actually me. I farted in the MRT. Sorry!
She broke into giggles and the passengers around her broke into smiles too. I guess it was hard to get angry at her honesty.
Thank God it wasn’t a lethal one and all I can say is, her cuteness saved her!

My two year old has a rather loud voice and on several occasions, I have found myself in a similar situation as you…
There was once when we were queuing up… I was carrying him… A man wearing a turban with lots if facial hair was queuing behind us… My son pointed at him and said, “look mommy, it’s Santa Claus!”
That’s cute. Hope the man didn’t take offense at it. After telling Sophie that eating too much fast food will make her fat, she once pointed to a big built guy and said, mummy that man eat too much MacDonald that’s why he’s so fat. I had to cover her mouth and made sure she didn’t get herself beaten up.
Hahaha she’s so cute and honest!
Yes, so honest and funny!
I love the honesty of kids – I suspect that even if it was lethal, she would have got away with it. Thanks for the laugh!
I think so too. Too funny not to share.
