Disney Planes: Fire and Rescue {Review and Printable Activities}

Dusty the crop duster turned superstar air racer is back for more action in this second installment of Planes. For those who still remember, Dusty overcame the odds and his fear of height in Planes (2013) to chase his dreams to be a world famous racer and race around the world.

In Planes Fire and Rescue, Dusty’s dreams of racing round the world came crumbling down when his gearbox got damaged making him unsuitable for to push his limits to race in future. But Dusty soon learns that life doesn’t end when one door is closed as he finds himself learning to be a courageous and brave aerial fire fighting from Blade Ranger, a veteran fire and rescue helicopter and understand what it takes to be a hero.

I liked that they paid a special tribute to the firefighters throughout the world as the brave heros who rush in when other rush out. The scenes of burning fire forest was quite vivid in 3D and I could see the anxiety on Sophie’s face as she watched how Dusty and team zoomed into the dark smoke, focused on doing their job to put out the fire at Piston Peak National Park.

As a comedy adventure, I don’t think there were many funny moments in the movie. But at one point, the kids all roared with laughter when Dipper who has a major crush on Dusty said that she likes watching Dusty sleep when he was out for days.

There are a few teachable moments in the show and the key one is about courage and bravery which all kids will go home remembering as Dusty stepped up to be a true hero as a firefighter.

Sophie also added out that we have to listen to instructions, because at one point, Dusty failed to listen to Blade Ranger when they were out as a team on a rescue mission causing his friend to be injured.

Planes Fire and Rescue is one show that young kids will enjoy especially if they liked the first Planes last year as this one packs more action. In comparison, I find it much easier for Sophie to understand the conversations than the first one which had a few characters with thick accents.

So don’t forget to mark this movie on your calendar when it opens in cinema from this Thursday, 4 September. A great movie for the September school holidays too!
