Last week, we did a very spontaneous visit to Sentosa on a Thursday morning.
It was decided by Alexis, after a visit to the PD confirmed that Sophie was not having HFMD. Since he had already taken leave with the intention of taking care of her for the day, he wasn’t keen to go back to work and convinced me that I should do the same. The reason? To celebrate this piece of fantastic news from the doctor.
“Didn’t you say you want to be more spontaneous?”, Alexis asked, hinting at a blog entry that I wrote about a month ago.
“Just give me a while to think about it.” I replied trying to share in his enthusiasm of enjoying a day with Sophie while going through my to do list like a check list if there was anything in the office that needed my urgent attention.
Even though I agreed after 15 minutes of contemplation, I was still uneasy at this suggestion that popped out from no where. Another 15 minutes later, I was still going through the must dos and can be tomorrow items in my mind.
But I shelved my hesitation when we arrived at the cable car station and I made a decision that indeed there is a reason for this day out – to celebrate Sophie’s health and just to take time out after my little episode of feeling so overwhelmed.
We decided to take the Angry Birds cable care ride since Sophie enjoys the game and we thought it would be a nice treat for her since this was her maiden trip up on the cable car.
We bought the family package which consisted of 2 adults and a child at a special price of $55. The usual ticket price for an adult is $29 for adults and $18 for a child.
What you get in the Angry Bird cable car ride is:
- an angry bird plush;
- the angry bird jingle, which was played for about half a minute or so; and
- games at the Mount Faber stop at just $5
Angry Bird games at Mount Faber
We were less than impressed by the ride, especially the games at Mount Faber since it was already not manned except for the catapult game . But nevertheless, Sophie was excited to see ‘familiar faces’ in the cable car with her.
We went for the Storytelling comes alive and Sophie was mesmerized by the soryteller and her tales of well-loved fairy tales as they come alive in the story. Sophie enjoyed it alot and sat through two stories, Goldilock and the 3 bears and Pinocchio. She was even brave enough and shouted then answer when the teller was asking some questions.
In the end, I’m glad that I caught on the spontaneous bug from my hubby and made the decision to spend the day with the family even though this was unplanned. In the end, we all had an enjoyable day in Sentosa and Sophie was the happiest to get Daddy and Mummy out on a school day.
This photo of the family pretty much sums up how we felt 🙂
Tomorrow’s the last day to catch Storytelling comes alive at Sentosa where there’ll be daily performances at 11:30, 3:30 and 5:30pm. So do make a trip there if you’ve got young kids who love their fairy tales. I’m sure, it will be great fun for the family 🙂
Aww so fun to be spontaneous! A bit harder now for me, but I suspect that no matter how spontaneous I want to be, I will still have a mental checklist of “Got water bottle? Need sunblock? How about extra socks?” Haha.
Haha that’s what moms always do. But thankfully, Sophie’s older now. So even if we missed something, we’ll just make do with it.
