After my failed attempt at baking Easter cupcakes some months ago, I nearly wanted to quit on baking… until I discovered another lovely alternative, Cake Pops!

Okay, I’ll admit that the only reason why I became interested in baking, specially cupcakes, is because they look absolutely gorgeous. And I’m a real sucker for anything that looks cute and nice. So it’s no surprised that I was instantly drawn to cake pops.
The enthusiastic baker in me decided that it looked easy enough from the couple of youtube tutorials I’ve watched and since its Teachers day this week, it gave me the perfect reason to try baking. But I regret that after being a mom, I have not learnt my lesson that being spontaneous does NOT pay off.
To get my ingredients, I ( with hubby and baby in tow) had to run to BIY, 2 Phoon Huats, NTUC and SKP to get all my ingredients and materials. It was stressful and even bordering on maddness at some point that Alexis tried to talk me out of it. But I was adamant and I’m super duper proud to say they were a success! (cue for wild clapping and cheering)
But boy were they tough to make. It took me 5 hours to get these. Worth it?
Crossing my fingers that the teachers will enjoy them.
HAPPY TEACHERS DAY!
I know I’ve tantalized some taste buds or maybe even made you interested to bake them. I’ll be back with another entry on how to make them, where to find the ingredients and even share some tips that those youtube videos forgot to mention!
Updated: Here’s a step by step instructions on how you can bake some of these cake pop goodness yourself!

Thanks Lee Lee. I sure hope they did.
Wow! Looks really good, Susan. And definitely you deserve the praise for the effort already. I’m sure Sophie will be in good hands. =D
That’s for the encouragement. Yes I do feel very assured when I see the progress in Sophie. And I just realized you were a teacher before. Would you consider returning to teach?
Wow looks good! I’m surprised they’re hard to make.. Looks can be deceiving eh.. Haha. Pls share the recipe, though I’m unlikely to try it as I seriously suck in the kitchen.. Haha.
Well cooking is different from baking.. although I have to admit I’m masters of none too 😛 Recipe coming up this week. Go try it someday.
Wow these look amazing! But really difficult to make!
Well done you 🙂
Thanks for the encouragement Corsage. You’re too kind 🙂
[…] week was my first attempt at baking cake pops for Sophie’s Teacher’s Day presents. I got to say that it was not as easy as it […]
Wow thanks for sharing your experience. I saw these cake pops some months ago and was tempted to try making them. Bakerella made it seemed so easy to have these cakepops done… now I really muster enough courage to try this one day 🙂
Hi Susan, I have started making cake pops and actually bought a cake pop electric maker when I came back from the UK. It takes 4 minutes to make 6 cake pops, and I can get about 42 cake pops from a 2 egg cake mix (about 35 minutes). No messing about baking a cake then crumbling it up and rolling into round balls. Kids loved decorating them
Would you know if it’s available in Singapore? That would be so convenient and probably I’ll bake them more often.
I’ve been wondering if my coating of chocolate have been too heavy and hence weigh down my cake pops. What is the consistency of your chocolate that you use?
