Aquatic Centre in the West

Bet you didn’t know that we had an Aquatic Centre in the West? To be more specific in Jurong West. If you do, then good on you as I only just made the discovery last Friday.

Wild Wild Wet

Everyone’s familiar with Singapore’s only water theme park, Wild Wild Wet where you get water slides, wave pool and a lazy river among other attractions . But with admissions priced at $16, I much rather look for alternatives that are more friendly to my wallet. So imagine my surprise when Alexis brought me to the Jurong West Aquatic Centre where it was a mini version of the Wild Wild Wet at a mere fraction of the entrance fee.

The facilities in Jurong West Aquatic Centre ( the name  already sounds more “high-class than a swimming pool!)  included a sheltered pool (no excuses that the rain’s keeping you from a swim) and an Olympic sized pool.

Now for the highlight, they’ve got other exciting features like a 3 storey high water slide, which by the way gives you a good work out just climbing those stairs! Or you can also choose to rent a float ($5 rental, $3 refundable) and laze in the lazy river where you get pushed along by jets of water. And to end it all, how about jumping into a Jacuzzi?

And for the kids, there is a huge Savanna themed kiddy pool area complete with a slides and water fountain within the playground.

Can I also add that besides the kiddy pool, they’ve also got very kiddy friendly toilet facilities.

kids size cubicles

The swimming pool holds lots of potential for a fun filled day for swimmers of all levels. And it’s definitively a pool that kids will have a splashing good time in the playground. For younger toddlers, just bring along their floats and the whole family can enjoy going round in the lazy river. Otherwise you can pack along their beach toys and play at the shallow ends of the kids pool. Last but not least, don’t forget to bring along your sun block and shield yourself from those UV rays!

Admission fees

  • Weekdays: Adults $1.50, children $0.80
  • Weekends: Adults $2.00, children $1.00

Location

The Jurong West Aquatic Center is located at 20 Jurong West Street 93 (648965)

Really? Wow the public pools these days are so much fun! I know the Sengkang one too has water slides too.

Looks interesting! Definitely love the kiddy toilet! There’s actually an even smaller similar pool at Sengkang with the slides, but i think those are only for bigger kids and grown ups. They also have a sheltered pool but there’s NO kiddy toilet … Wld love to go there with ovann 1 of these days but er ….. it’s a bit far huh.

      Pegsfur,
Yes having the kiddy toilets is such a good idea. But I feel they can make it safer for the younger kids by having non slip mats inside the cubicles.
Yes I’m not a Westie, but I guess if it’s once in a blue moon it’s quite worth it 🙂

Wow nice! The Jurong East swimming complex is also like that but I think this one has more stuff to play! Cheap and good!

Kat I haven’t been to the Jurong East one for a long time but I thought they had a couple of slides and the lazy pool too.

Thought I should add that the first photo is of Wild Wild Wet in case I leave people disappointed. But the water slides in Jurong West are not too shabby too.
