7 days countdown to Christmas

I’ve been pretty quiet around here after my trip as I’ve been busy with work and trying to take things slow to rest and reflect for the New Year.

With Christmas round the corner, I’m sure that many of you are keeping busy with Christmas activities with your kids. So I’ve invited the ever creative and energetic Alicia who blogs at Beanie N Us to guest post on an Christmas Advent Activity that will still have you in time for Christmas.

Take it away Alicia 🙂

OK, I have a confession to make – I am a hoarder.

The worst possible kind where I do not just hoard books (I still have yet to sell / throw out / giveaway the baby books which are at least 3 years old), clothes but I also hoard toilet roll cores, bubble wrap, cardboxes, felt and wrapping paper scraps, etc.

So it is one of my goals to start using those old packing from Fishpond and Book Depository. With Christmas coming up and we were planning for our Activities, I decided to use them in creating an Advent calendar.

In addition, I also wanted to look into some of Dumpling’s existing “toys” to see if we can use any of them in creating this calendar.

And this is what we did:

  • Cardboard packaging from Fishpond
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Calendar Printout
  • And lastly, guess what Dumpling and I found and decided to use for the frame?

Tada! A theatre frame which we bought some time back from ELC!

So off we painted…

And we snipped and trimmed and cut
Glued it to the packaging…

Punched some holes…
And strung them up! (Yes, our version is a 7-day weekly version so there’s the element of surprise for Dumpling when she does all the activities)
This is the fun part. All we have to do is to remove the cardboard packaging and we can play dramatization on the Nativity scenes!

How’s that for a 2-in-1 idea? ;p

Alicia is a Part Time Working Mum (PTWM) who enjoys re-living her childhood as she and her preschooler (fondly referred to as Dumpling) go on field trips, embark on new crafts, recipes as well as review places and home learning programs. Alicia blogs regularly at Beanie N Us where she shares her parenting journey and sometimes whimsical thoughts.
Hope you enjoyed this green Christmas Advent Activity idea. Did you have a Christmas Advent Activity Calendar to count down to Christmas too?
