Motivational Mondays – Being stronger than your excuses

These days my exercise has turned into a weekly affair. And by that I mean that it’s  been greatly reduced to just once a week. Hardly the kind of quota that I’m proud of since it should really be three times a week if I want to see my body in any kind of shape besides being round 😛

In fact, I got suan-ed by my boss last week when she made a remark that I only pretend to run. Ouch! So over the weekends, I decide to make time for my exercise and get my body movin’ by dragging out my weights which have been collecting dust.

I did lunges, squats, bench presses and curls on Saturday and felt so weak. A sign that I have been neglecting my body for sure.  And on Sunday morning, I finally pushed through and ran 5km from my usual 3km! My timing wasn’t fantastic given that I was dead tired from a whole day of scrubbing and cleaning the day before due to an ants infestation in the house. But I’m glad that I nailed those excuses.

Would be a waste not to run with such a fine weather

Alexis bought me this tee as a reminder to keep running, rain or shine 🙂

I wished I could tell you that it’s so easy to get into the groove of exercising especially when we all know the benefits of it. But the truth is, you gotta make it happen. As mums, it’s hard to leave the home to exercise but what I find useful is having a set of weights and mat so that I can do the exercises I mentioned above. If you can find time, then a quick jog or brisk walk around the neighbourhood would be good too. For me, it takes less about 15 mins for my 3km jog, so really it doesn’t require that much time.

Sharing a quote that I saw from my friend’s Instagram. Don’t let your excuse keep you from a good work out! If you need a fitness buddy, I’ll be happy to give you a nudge along.
