Happy 3rd Birthday Sophie!

Sophie turned 3 this year. And like most kids, it was hard to resist the timeless charm of Mickey Mouse. So that was her requested birthday party theme – a Mickey and Minnie Mouse Birthday party.

I had initially planned to DIY the party decoration for her party after seeing so many creative ideas from Pinterest. But due to my work commitments, I had to scale back on some of my plans. Nevertheless I managed to give her a Meeska Mooska Mickey Mouse party as requested.

Party favor for all our friends who came – Mickey Mouse club house coloring book with matching stationary.

I made an interesting observation that most friends who turned up for the party were whose with young children as families with older kids had all sorts of classes on a Saturday afternoon, from swimming to art to reading, etc. I wonder how long I can hold off these enrichment classes for Sophie as gets older?

For the party, I cheated and choose to cater as I wasn’t confident that I could cook for a party of about 30 pax. I figured that it was better to be at the party and mingle with the guest than be cooped in the kitchen.

The kids all wanted to sit at the kiddy table with the birthday girl at lunch time.

Game time was led by my sister who was a natural with kids. Being a gym coach herself, she had lots of experience with kids and got them to participate in the games with ease. Thanks!

And since it was a Mickey and Minnie party, we got dressed for the occasion!

This year, we chose an ice cream cake from Swensons since they had Mickey Mouse designs. It proved to be a hit with everyone especially when it was sticky chewy chocolate flavored. Yummms πŸ™‚

And here’s a reminder if you’re planning to get an ice cream cake. Do take it out from the freezer for at least 10-15 minutes otherwise you’ll have difficulty cutting it like we did.

“Off with your heads!”

Sophie had a great celebration as you can tell from this picture. She was high from the celebration which was partially contributed by the lack of sleep and was bordering on being delirious…

But the one party that Sophie was really looking forward to, was the celebration in her childcare centre as she wanted to celebrate it with all her friends and can you guess what cake we had?

Another Mickey Mouse cake of course!

It meant a great deal to Sophie to be able to celebrate her 3rd birthday with all her friends in school as there is always a huge fuss on the birthday boy/ girl.

The birthday boy/ girl will get to seat on the specially designated birthday seat and have all their friends gather round to sing them the birthday song before they make a wish and blow out the candles.

Finally, what the kids have all been looking forward to – the birthday party favor from the birthday girl. We got the kids a Micky Mouse clubhouse coloring book that came complete with markers and crayons.

I hope that I’ll be able to plan a better party next year. Alexis has his mind on holding it at an indoor playground while I’m thinking about McDonalds. But I’m sure that the birthday girl will have an opinion of her own.

But party or not, what matters most is that she’s surrounded by her family who loves her unconditionally on her special day to remind her how special and loved she is!

Happy 3rd Birthday Sophie!
