Choose Happiness

One of the biggest news in town last week was the horrific car accident that resulted in three deaths when a PRC who was driving a Ferrari beat the traffic light and rammed into a taxi. The blogosphere has been rift with criticisms  about the driver’s inconsiderate actions but it’s not somewhere that I’m going near as that would insinuate racist comments.

But if there is one lesson that we can all learn from this, it is that life is indeed fragile.

For the families that lost their loved ones, there were no last good byes. There was no chance for the families to  express how much they loved the ones who were in that accident. Their lives were just taken away, so quickly, so suddenly.

It served as a reminder to me to remember not to sweat the small things in life. And here’s something that  even Sophie has taught my brother when he took her to the playground when I was in Bangkok.

Don’t you just love her reply?

As random as it sounded, it made me smile to know that I’ve got a little sunshine at home who’s spreading her gospel of happiness.

Choosing happiness for me means:

  • Saying I love you to those that matters to me everyday
  • Maintain friendships that matters to me
  • Getting re-acquainted with my hobbies,  crafting, scrapping booking, reading
  • Loving myself and taking good care of my body by eating well, exercising and getting enough Zzzzz
  • Not to sweat the small stuffs and let go when needed.

Choose happiness today and be a positive influence wherever you go. How will you choose to be happy today?

Indeed. Happiness is a choice. A choice only we can make as it is in our own hands. 🙂

Sharon: I agree. Sometimes when things don’t go our way and we lament about it, we have to remember that our happiness is a choice. I may not always feel that way, but I have Sophie who is reminding me 🙂

That’s what I love about children, their contentment, seeing joy in simple things, so much we can learn from them!

I got quite sad reading about the lives lost the past week as well, about how careless some of us humans can be 🙁 And it really reminded me that choosing to be happy also means that we need to think about people we come into contact with, how we can choose to see the best in them, learn to not hold grudges even when some people let us down, and love them despite their faults, just as God first loved us. Not easy especially for the not so lovable ones 🙂

It isn’t easy to even love those that we should love, like our family members, but that’s why we need Christ to empower us to do the impossible. As for me, I try to be a positive influence to those around me. May not happen all the time, but I try..
And yes, there is so much to learn from our kids. That’s why they call it child-like faith 🙂

I love the childlike bliss of innocence. To simply enjoy things for how they make them feel – instead of being dictated by the elements and other mundane things.

It’s humid and hot today – but I’m going to look forward to seeing the boy’s face light up when he sees me at the door, back from work. I’m going to hug him and tell him that as long as he’s happy, that makes me happy, too.

Tell Sophie thanks from me! 🙂

Well although there are days that she drives me up the wall by acting up, I have to say that most days she’s still my little miss sunshine 🙂

Sophie is adorable! I agree, life is too short and fragile to dwell on the unpleasant things, especially if it’s not something that’s within your means to change. Kids are so precious…we can see reflections of God’s love and joy in them…and they never fail to help us see what’s really important in life! 🙂

If only we can remain “untainted” and continue to have this child like innocence in us. But at the end of the day, it’s really a choice. A choice to let situations and circumstances take over or to choose to look beyond that and see that in ALL things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purposes 🙂

Sometimes kids really can teach us what it means to live and how simple happiness can be. =) Glad to know of your little sunshine and oh, I like your new header!

True, indeed that we should learn to be contented, happy as life is indeed too fragile and short…

No matter how careful we might be, with reckless people on the road, we can only pray for the Lord’s mercy and also protection. I love to see how happy and contented my children are whenever they are given something so small, but to them, it is huge and of great important. Which make me think of why God want us to have a child-like faith in order to inherit His kingdom.

    Thank God for sophie!

Well said! Really, kids say the most amazing things at the best moments, very often waking us to the fact that they are just so innocent. The simplest things can make them happy, like a kiss from mummy, or daddy. We can definitely learn from them. Thanks Sophie!
