Motivational Mondays – My husband comes before my child

I’m a mum and I’m proud of it.

But some days, just some days, I do wish I can go back to the days before we had Sophie. Please don’t judge me when I wish that I can sleep in as late as I want on weekend mornings. When I don’t have to order something that is not spicy, oily or child friendly when I have to share my food. When I can have a nice evening just stoning in front of the TV without being interrupted by my little one to rad a book, play something, feed her…

So when we had the opportunity to take a staycation at the soon-to-be opened Westin, Alexis decided that it will just be for the two of us while my mum took care of Sophie.

We were of course thrilled to be have a day to ourselves and be part of Westin’s simulation program before they officially open their doors to the public on 12 November 2013.

We had a fantastic sea view that overlooked the bustling PSA

Bimbo moment because I love how the mirror made my legs look so long

The pool was not ready yet, so I could only swim in my bath tub

And gosh their signature Westin Heavenly Bed was indeed one of the most comfortable beds as I was lulled to dreamland the moment I rested my head on the pillow. Either that or that I really could do with a good night of uninterrupted sleep.

Even though we only had a short day to ourselves, we left feeling so rejuvenated and even hinted to Alexis that we should take a couple’s holiday for just the two of us since we brought Sophie along to Taiwan and Hong Kong this year. I think he’s pretty convinced and I’m glad that I’m still, if not as important to him as Sophie.

As much as I remember to put Alexis first before Sophie, I’m glad he’s doing the same for me too 🙂

How are you putting your spouse before your kids? If they’ve been neglected lately, it’s not too late to show them that they matter too.

Looks like you had a lovely staycation. I too am a firm believer of investing in our marriage… And it does get easy to get caught up with kids and their interests after a while and forget to connect and enjoy our partners. Totally with you on taking regular time-off just to rediscover romance and fall in love again. Good on you guys. =)

It’s so important, if not more important that we invest in our marriages after the kids. And it starts by being intentional by setting aside time for it. Glad that you guys are also making time and effort for each other.

I love that quote you shared! And its great that you and hubs had some couple time. We’re also learning to spend time with each other without the kids. 🙂
